Abhishek Sharma lit up the Asia Cup 2025 T20 competition as the Indian team won the tournament by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final on September 28 in Dubai. Abhishek Sharma scored 314 runs in 7 games with 3 fifties and a best score of 75.

Most importantly, apart from the final, where Abhishek got out for 5 runs, he scored 30 or more runs in all the games in the tournament. His strike rate was 200 in the tournament, hitting 32 fours and 19 sixes. As India won the Asia Cup title, their ninth overall, Abhishek Sharma was named the Player of the Tournament.

During his conversation with presenter Simon Doull, Abhishek Sharma took a cheeky dig at Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi. It should be noted that Abhishek and Shaheen had a verbal altercation in the Super 4s match earlier in the Asia Cup 2025 event. After hitting a six with the first ball, the left-hander instructed the left-armer to return to the mark and bowl.

In the final, Abhishek scored a four off Shaheen's first over, but he was eventually bowled by Faheem Ashraf.

At the post-match presentation, Abhishek was forthright enough to discuss his attitude, stating that he does not play based on his bowling reputation because his goal is to get the team off to a strong start.

“If you see, I had a plan. If I get spinners or something in the power play as well, I am going to utilize that power play. If you see any of the bowlers, even the fast bowlers, or any of the premium fast bowlers as well,” Abhishek told Simon Doull in the post-match presentation.

"If they come, I have a plan in my mind that I want to go from the first ball, no matter who the bowler is," he added.

As soon as Abhishek stated, "premium fast bowler," he smiled, and the entire stadium began to cheer and applaud.

Abhishek was given a car as part of his Player of the Tournament award, and he was happy with the gift he received in Dubai.

“Getting a car is always a pleasure. Getting into this team after winning the World Cup wasn't easy for any opener. But if you see, we had a plan that we wanted to play a game, and we had to show intent from the first ball. So that was my plan; I worked really hard on that. And if you're playing like this, you need special support from your coach and captain. I think that was the one thing I was getting from them throughout the tournament, before this as well," said Abhishek.

"My plan was pretty much clear that if I do well, if I get that impact, and it's for my team, my team should win. If you want to play something like this, sometimes you will fail, but you have to keep the process going," he added.
