India defeated Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on September 28, 2025. This was India’s ninth Asia Cup win and first win over Pakistan in the final of the continental event.
India won the toss in the crucial final against Pakistan, and Suryakumar Yadav elected to field first. Sahibzada Farhan maintained his fine form, scoring 57 off 36 balls, including five fours and three sixes, and sharing 84 runs for the first wicket with Fakhar Zaman, who scored 46.
Saim Ayub scored 14, but Indian spinners swung the game as Pakistan fell from 113/1 to 146 all out. Kuldeep Yadav scored 4/30, including three wickets in one over. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel chose two apiece.
India's chase began poorly, with Abhishek Sharma (5), Suryakumar Yadav (1), and Shubman Gill (12) falling early, leaving them at 20/3. Sanju Samson (24) and Tilak Varma combined for a 57-run stand. Tilak then added 60 runs with Shivam Dube, who scored 33 off 22 balls, including two fours and two sixes. His huge six off Haris Rauf in the 18th over swung the momentum in India's favour.
Tilak Varma led the chase with an undefeated 69 from 53 balls, including three fours and four sixes, while Rinku Singh scored the winning boundary. India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the Asia Cup 2025. Faheem Ashraf scored 3/29 for Pakistan.
BCCI was elated with the Indian team’s performance in the Asia Cup 2025 tournament and the final in particular. They announced a huge INR 21 crores prize money for the Indian team and the support staff, after their 9th Asia Cup win.
