Pakistan is playing Bangladesh in the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 25 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. This is a virtual semi-final of the tournament, with the winner taking on India in the final on September 28, Sunday.
Bangladesh captain Jaker Ali won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangladesh bowlers rattled the Pakistan batting lineup with three single-digit scores by the top five batters, with Fakhar Zaman (13) and Salman Agha (19) crossing double digits. Saim Ayub made a duck again, his fourth in this Asia Cup 2025.
Shaheen Afridi smashed 19, but it was Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Nawaz who pushed Pakistan past the 100-run mark and into a fighting capacity. Haris made 31 with 2 fours and one six, while Nawaz made 25 with one four and 2 sixes.
Pakistan managed to post 135/8 in 20 overs, with Faheem Ashraf contributing 12*.
While they have lost wickets in droves since the start of their innings, a video clip from the match demonstrates their recklessness even in fundamental aspects of the game, such as running between the wickets.
The incident took place on the final delivery of the tenth over. Pakistan had skipper Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Haris in the middle. Mahedi Hasan bowled a full delivery outside the off stump. Agha rushed at it, pushing it down the field to the right of the long-on fielder.
The deep fielding effort was weak, allowing the batters to score the second run. However, replays revealed that Mohammad Haris failed to drag his bat into the crease to complete the first run, before going off for the second one, resulting in a short run, and the batters got only one run for their efforts.
