India and Oman clashed in the final group stage game of the Asia Cup 2025 on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. India had already qualified for the Super Fours stage with their win over Pakistan and the UAE, and defeated Oman by 21 runs for an unbeaten record.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bat first. Abhishek Sharma made 38 in 15 balls with five fours and two sixes. Sanju Samson made 56 with 3 fours and 3 sixes, while Harshit Rana made 29 and Axar Patel made 26 as India posted 188/8.
Surprisingly, Suryakumar Yadav didn’t come out to bat, as Shah Faisal, Jiten Ramanandi, and Aamir Kaleem took two wickets each.
In response, Jatinder Singh (32) added 56 runs for the first wicket with Aamir Kaleem. Kaleem made a brilliant 64 with 7 fours and 2 sixes, adding a further half-century stand with Hammad Mirza, who made 51.
At one time, Kaleem’s presence gave Oman a fleeting hope of an upset, but that hope was crushed by Hardik Pandya.
On the 4th ball of the 18th over, Kaleem swept a slower ball by Harshit Rana, and the ball seemed to be going over the line for a six, but Hardik Pandya covered quite a bit of ground to take the catch in his one hand.
