After not getting their way with protests against Andy Pycroft, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will reportedly now target India captain Suryakumar Yadav and complain about his statements made in the post-match presentation between India and Pakistan on Sunday, September 14.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is allegedly considering filing a formal complaint against India's T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, in a new development in the "handshake-gate" controversy.
Suryakumar's post-match remarks, in which he dedicated India's 7-wicket victory to "our armed forces who took part in Operation Sindoor" and showed support for the families impacted by the recent Pahalgam terror attack, are reportedly angering the PCB.
The PCB believes that this goes against the spirit of the game because it is a political statement made on a sporting platform, as per the NDTV report.
The Indian team's refusal to engage in small talk before and after the game—a customary sign of goodwill and sportsmanship—reportedly left Pakistani players bruised, further escalating the tension.
Former PCB Chairman and ex-Pakistan captain Rameez Raja voiced his concerns publicly, stating, "My biggest objection was what was said in the post-match presentation by Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. That editorial was the critical point."
If the PCB decides to pursue it, they have till Sunday to submit an official complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
On Sunday, September 21, India will play Pakistan in a Super Four match. The ICC's response and the conduct of both teams in their upcoming match will be closely watched.
