Atiq-uz-Zaman, a former star of the Pakistan cricket team, criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on social media for the official player kits and jerseys being used in the current Asia Cup 2025.
Zaman accused the cricket regulatory board of corruption and criticized the subpar jerseys worn by Pakistani cricket players during Wednesday's match against the United Arab Emirates.
The Pakistani cricket players were perspiring through their jerseys, according to Zaman, whilst other teams had appropriate dry-fit uniforms. He continued by accusing PCB of awarding the kit production contract to "friends and not professionals."
"Pakistan players are sweating through low-quality kits while others wear proper dry-fits. This is what happens when tenders go to friends, not professionals. Corruption dripping more than the sweat," Zaman posted on X.
Pakistan managed to qualify for the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025. They defeated the UAE in Dubai by 41 runs. Pakistan managed only 146/9 against the UAE, with Fakhar Zaman scoring 50 and being rescued from 110/7 by a late surge from Shaheen Shah Afridi, who struck an unbeaten 29 off 14 balls.
UAE couldn’t stitch together partnerships to chase the total down and made 105 runs. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed took two wickets each for Pakistan.
Pakistan will now face India in Super 4s on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
