Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has lavished rich praise on India pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the India v Pakistan clash of the Asia Cup 2025. He also shared his thoughts on Bumrah’s battle with Pakistani batters in the match that will be played on September 14, 2025, in Dubai.
In his anticipation of an exciting match between Bumrah and Fakhar, Pathan praised the Indian pacer's deft control and methodical approach.
According to him, Fakhar would find it difficult to create an impression if Bumrah fires at his best, but a matchup with Kuldeep Yadav might add an interesting twist to the crucial India-Pakistan match.
"When we saw Bumrah in the last match, he was bowling with control and easing in. He is very smart and knows how to pace himself. When you see him playing against Pakistan, he will be seen at a different pace and in a different zone. Fakhar Zaman is a player who plays fast and tries to carry momentum. So there, if Bumrah comes in with his A game, I don't think Fakhar stands a chance. But if he can remove that spell, I would love to see that contest between Fakhar Zaman and Kuldeep Yadav," he said on Sony Sports Network.
Since the Dubai surface gives spinners a little more help, Bumrah was the lone frontline pacer in India's XI for the match against the UAE.
Pathan lavished Bumrah with accolades, describing him as a "once-in-a-generation" bowler who excels at pace, yorkers, and setting up batsmen, especially left-handers like Fakhar Zaman, in high-pressure situations.
"Who can give instructions to Bumrah? He is a king. He is a once-in-a-generation bowler. He knows how to set the batters up and when to bowl the yorker. Fakhar is a left-handed batter, and we have seen the inswing yorker as well from Bumrah to left-handers," he added.
