India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was at his hilarious best as he pulled the leg of Sanju Samson as the Indian team walked towards the team bus after a practice session in Dubai ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 tournament.
Fans gathered outside the ICC Academy on Saturday, and when the Kerala cricketer left with colleagues, several voices chanted, "Samson, Samson." Taking advantage of the situation, Suryakumar joked, “Local boy! The Trivandrum native Sanju Samson.”
Samson acknowledged the audience by shaking hands, signing autographs, and posing for photographs after the joke instantly made people grin.

Sanju Samson is in contention for the opening slot in India XI along with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. His claim is supported by his T20I opening figures of 522 runs at an average of 32.63 and a strike rate of 178.77 in 17 innings.
Samson's position in the starting lineup continues to be a major topic of discussion because Jitesh Sharma is also an option for the keeper-batter position.
India will open their Asia Cup 2025 on September 9 against the UAE in Dubai. They will then clash with Pakistan on September 14; both matches are to be played in Dubai. They will then face Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 19 in Group A matches.
