Next month, the Indian men's cricket team will go to the United Arab Emirates to compete in the Asia Cup 2025. India is hosting the competition that begins on September 9, and Abu Dhabi and Dubai are serving as the venues.
The Indian men's cricket team will play their first match of the Asia Cup 2025 against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on September 10. On Sunday, September 14, they will play their second Group A match against bitter rivals Pakistan.
During the T20 World Cup 2024, India's most recent Twenty20 International match against Pakistan took place in New York on June 9, 2024.
Despite tensions between the two nations, the Asia Cup organizers are optimistic that the India-Pakistan match in Dubai on September 14 will go on.
Many Indian fans think that the Men in Blue should boycott the match against Pakistan and instead choose to skip it, as the Indian Champions did at the most recent World Championship of Legends.
The chief operating officer of the Emirates Cricket Board, Subhan Ahmed, however, believes that the Asia Cup is unlikely to see a similar circumstance.
“We can’t make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like comparison. When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance. That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision of announcing the schedule for the countries. So, hopefully we won’t be in a situation as there was at the WCL," Subhan was quoted as saying by The National.
In the Asia Cup 2025, India and Pakistan can face each other as many as three times if they qualify for the final.
