Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan are in the running for a spot in India's Asia Cup 2025 roster, which is anticipated to be announced in the third week of August.

A busy schedule has prevented Jaiswal and Test captain Gill from playing in recent T20 assignments, but they should be available for the continental tournament after taking a month-long break following the five-Test series against England.  

According to BCCI insiders, if India advances to the September 28 final of the continental T20 tournament, the national selectors are keeping their options open even though the home Test series against the West Indies begins in less than a week.

The first Test against the West Indies starts on October 2 in Ahmedabad.

It is worth noting that Jaiswal scored 559 runs with a strike rate of 160 in the previous IPL season, while Gill scored 650 runs in 15 games at a healthy strike rate of 155 or higher. Sudharsan, Gill's opening partner for Gujarat Titans, won the 'Orange Cap' with 759 runs and a strike rate of 156.

"There is a five-week break, and with no cricket around, these three should walk into any T20 squad despite a stupendous show by Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. In 21 days in the Asia Cup, if one plays till the final, there are 6 T20 games, and that's not much of a workload. But obviously with 17-member squads allowed for the Asia Cup, selectors will weigh options carefully," a BCCI source told PTI.

Another major discussion point is the availability of pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

Both bowlers have been carefully managed following an extended workload across forms, and they are set to undertake fitness tests before the selection meeting.
