
Though England couldn't regain the Ashes urn but on the first day of fifth and final Test at The Oval, captain Joe Root achieved a special milestone as he became the third youngest batsman ever after Sir Alastair Cook and Sachin Tendulkar to score 7000 runs in Test cricket. He got to this milestone when he reached 35 in in his 57 runs knock. Overall he is the 12th England batsman to score 7000 or more runs in Test cricket.
