Varun Chakravarthy of Team India outfoxed Australia's middle-order batter Tim David with his techniques during the second T20I between the two teams on Friday, October 31, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The right-hander only managed one run before being removed by Chakravarthy.
Team India scored 125 runs in 18.4 overs despite being selected to bat first on a difficult pitch that aided pacers throughout the innings. Abhishek Sharma, the team's opener, led the way with 68 runs off 37 balls. Josh Hazlewood was Australia's standout bowler, taking three wickets.
On the other hand, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head provided a flyer to Australia, scoring 51 runs in 27 balls for the first wicket. Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed Travis Head for 28 runs. Mitch Marsh made 46 off 26 balls and was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.
This brought Tim David to the crease, and India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Varun began playing mind games with David. First, Tilak Varma was put into the short-leg position as David smiled at the Indian fielder. The Australian batter backed away once, while Chakravarthy paused his run-up to heighten the tension.
He managed one run off Varun, but two balls later, he tried to defend a delivery that bounced a bit more and only managed to hand Varun a simple return catch.
