Shubman Gill is currently in Adelaide to lead the Indian team in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Australia on Thursday (October 23).
Ahead of the fixture, Gill took a stroll through the streets of Adelaide, where a fan requested him for handshake. After shaking hands, he chanted “Pakistan Zindabad."
The fan’s unexpected reaction took Gill by surprise, and the video of the same went viral on social media.

Notably, the handshake controversy involving Team India and Pakistan took the cricketing world by storm last month.
During the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side refrained from shaking hands with their Pakistani counterparts as the games were played amidst heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack and retaliatory Operation Sindoor.
The arch-rivals faced each other thrice in the continental event and India emerged victorious on all occasions, including the title clash. In all three meetings, the Men in Blue refused to shake hands and exchange post-match pleasantries with the Pakistan players.
After winning the final, the Indian team had also refused to receive trophy and medallions from ACC and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister and shared anti-India sentiments on social media throughout the tournament.
