AUS v SA 2018: The wheel will turn and it'll happen quickly, says Aaron Finch

With the 6 wicket defeat in the first ODI at Perth, Australia has now lost 17 off their last 19 games in the format.

Disappointed with his side's massive defeat in the first ODI at Perth against South Africa on November 4 and having now seen Australia lost 17 off their last 19 games in this format, skipper Aaron Finch is desperate to turn things around and feels that with hardwork and positive intent "the wheel will turn and it will happen quickly" for the country.

Being shot down for just 152 against a high-quality attack on a good hard and bouncy surface at the new Perth Stadium, Australia succumbed to defeat with the Faf du Plessis led South Africa polishing it off in just 29.2 overs and 6 wickets in the bank.

This, following the 3-0 T20I series whitewash against Pakistan in UAE, is a painful experience for Finch, who has just been bestowed with the responsibility of leading the limited-overs set-up, but he is still hopeful of a change in fortunes and said,  "It will turn, the way that we're training, believe me, the way that we're training and preparing the wheel will turn and it will happen quickly. It might not be tomorrow, it might not be the next day. But I think if we keep improving and keep practising as we are it will turn."

"You'd say guys at times are probably doubting themselves. When guys are not performing as well as they can do and have done in the past there's always going to be a little bit out of doubt," he stressed, "When South Africa bowled as well as they did today you have to be at your absolute best to get through that," and emphasized, "We can't question the way anyone's been training or preparing. It's been spot on. It's just one of those things. You're only one good shot away from feeling on top of the world again."

The second ODI takes place at Adelaide on November 9.
