International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday, January 29 barred Ambati Rayudu from bowling for India after his off-spin action was found illegal as per the laid down rules.

The middle-order batsman decided not to submit for a test over his action within the stipulated period of 14 days that began after he was reported for a suspect action during Sydney ODI of the just concluded three-match series in Australia.

Clause 4.2 from ICC regulations comes in immediate effect, as per which, Rayudu can't bowl till he proves the legality of his action.

Though, if consented for, the 33-year-old can bowl in Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organised domestic cricket, in accordance with world governing body's law Article 11.5.
