AUS v IND 2018-19: WATCH – Jasprit Bumrah’s ripping delivery reminds everyone of Jeff Thomson’s thunderbolts

Jasprit Bumrah bowled with great speed and accuracy on the Perth pitch in later sessions.

Jasprit Bumrah was at his best in the last session of the day's play | GettyJasprit Bumrah put some spice with his quick deliveries on the green top pitch at the new Optus Perth Stadium during the first day of the second Test between Australia and India.

However, his first spell before lunch was a lackluster one, as he was taken for runs by the Australian openers. However, after lunch, it was Jasprit Bumrah, who made the first inroad as he trapped Aaron Finch LBW, just after him finishing his fifty.

Virat Kohli opted for the new ball after 80 overs were up and Bumrah was introduced once again into the attack and this time, it was time for some fire from him. He made Tim Paine and Pat Cummins look like chums, as his balls moved both of the pitch and in the air after passing the batsmen.

Keeper Rishabh Pant had a difficult time collecting his pacy deliveries. However, it was Australian skipper Tim Paine, who got a taste of Bumrah’s fury as he was beaten by a peach of a delivery. The ball was pitched at a good length and there was a slight lateral movement which left Paine all squared up. The ball though whistled past the stumps and over a leaping Rishabh Pant behind the wicket.

Jeff Thomson bowling at his peak | GettyMany who saw Bumrah’s delivery, were reminded of former Australian paceman Jeff Thomson, who had once bowled a delivery at the WACA stadium in Perth that had just bounced in front of the sight-screen.

Thomson was legitimately the fastest bowler of his time and has previously praised Bumrah and said that the Indian bowler had become sharper every time he has seen him.a
