The second T20 international of the three-match series between India and Australia is being progressed at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday (November 23).
However, the weather in Melbourne has already started playing hide and seek as there were some showers before the match, which led to some cold weather here, resulting some of the Indian players were seen taking the field in jumpers against Australia.
While Dinesh Karthik, who hails from Chennai and does not experience such cold weather there, was visibly struggling on a cold night at the MCG, as the batsman was seen sporting a beanie along with jumper to save himself from the cold while fielding during the Australian innings here.
However, cold conditions could not prevent Karthik from doing his job at his best while fielding, as he grabbed a well-judged catch of first T20I star Marcus Stoinis at deep point for 4 off Jasprit Bumrah delivery and since then, he has been christened on Twitter as cricket’s new “Beanie Boy”.
Even, Commentators have been also enjoyed a little bit while talking about Karthik in the commentary box, who is playing in the series as purely batsman with Rishabh Pant doing the wicket-keeping duties and his struggle in windy and cold conditions here at MCG.
He has now become the bunny on Twitter and even some have been suggested that Karthik must be the first player to take a catch in an international in Australia wearing a beanie, while some calling him a “Beanie Boys of world cricket”.
Noteworthy, the rain has played spoilsport at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday as rain has returned and the game is on hold for the time being after Australia made 132 for 7 in 19 overs.
