New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has on Wednesday (February 3) heaped praise on his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammate T Natarajan, saying the Indian star is an “amazing and humble guy” who deserves all the praise he is getting right now.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer has been enjoying a great time on the field since the IPL 2020 – where the seamer picked up 16 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the UAE – which earned him a call up for an Australia tour for the T20Is and then destiny opened the door for him just week by week.

Natarajan became the first Indian cricketer to have made a debut in all three formats of the game on the same tour and he also made notable contributions across the format and Kane said it was awesome watching how the bowlers went about the business against Australia.

Williamson told Sports Today: “Natarajan is just an amazing guy. What a fantastic IPL tournament he has had. And the opportunities and the doors that opened for him just week by week as he ended up playing the Gabba Test and what a famous victory that was for India.”

He added, “You know (this is) just an incredible time in his life and I appreciate, I suppose, to have some involvement just being his team-mate in the last IPL and some of the years before.”

The Kiwi batting great also noted that India now has a fantastic talent at their side while pointing out that the seamer quickly has blossomed and become a mature cricketer without playing a huge amount of cricket.

Williamson added, “But an amazing story and such a humble guy and a fantastic talent that India has right there. I think also with his age, as well, he has just blossomed and become such a mature cricketer in such a short period of time, without playing a huge amount of cricket.”

He also felt fortunate to play with Natarajan for SRH in the Indian Premier League.

He signed off by saying, “I’m fortunate to play with him and it was awesome watching how he played going to Australia and taking up those opportunities as well.”
