South African cricketer Imran Tahir was fascinated with Team India’s historic Test series victory in Australia and said that it was a pleasure to watch the Indian team come back after being beaten comprehensively in the first Test in Adelaide.
Team India’s 2-1 Test series victory over Australia was one of the greatest comebacks in history and was lauded by the cricket fraternity all around the globe.
After the batting debacle at Adelaide and with Virat Kohli not being available for the rest of the series, Team India’s chances of clinching the series were next to impossible.
However, Team India led by Ajinkya Rahane regrouped to put together three stellar performances and despite being battered and bruised showed great resilience and application to register historic victories at Melbourne (MCG) and Gabba, Brisbane. The team also registered a famous draw at Sydney.
Imran Tahir applauded Team India's resilience and said it's never easy to win in Australia.
"I want to congratulate the Indian team for the way they played in Australia. They showed a lot of heart, character and that's what you need when playing in Australia.
"It's not easy… crowd is against you, the media, everybody. The team comes hard at you and it’s a very difficult environment because they want to win as well," Imran Tahir told SportsKeeda.
Team India’s historic series victory over Australia couldn't have been possible without the youngsters who rose to the occasion in the absence of the first choice cricketers and helped Team India clinch the series 2-1.
Starting from Mohammed Siraj who made his debut in Melbourne and claimed a five-wicket haul in only his third Test. Opening batsman Shubman Gill scored a couple of half-centuries and played some crucial knocks. And the way Rishabh Pant batted in Sydney to bring India close and more so in Brisbane.
Pertaining the same Tahir lauded the youngsters for stepping up in the absence of senior players.
"Hats off to Indian youngsters for the way they came [back], and especially without Virat Kohli. The big players were missing, but wow, it was a pleasure a pleasure to watch," he said.
