India's Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane led the side in the absence of Virat Kohli and brought them from 0-1 down to 2-1 up against Australia.
As someone who had predicted a 4-0 loss for Team India after the horror of Adelaide, former England captain Michael Vaughan is in extreme awe of Rahane's captaincy and has developed an opinion that he should be made India's permanent captain in Tests.
Ajinkya Rahane's Test record as captain has been outstanding so far, with four victories in five matches. Out of those four, three victories in four games have come against the mighty Australians.
As a result, Vaughan took to Twitter to express his opinion on making Mumbaikar India's permanent captain.
Vaughan tweeted, "I think I would have really considered keeping @ajinkyarahane88 as Captain for @BCCI !!! Allowing @imVkohli to be the Batsman only would make India even more dangerous & Rahane has an incredible presence & tactical nous about him ... #INDvsAUS"

While Vaughan chooses to believe Virat Kohli will be more beneficial to the Indian side as a batsman, his records speak otherwise. Kohli has been a much better batsman in Test cricket when he was also the captain of the side.
He has played 56 matches as captain and scored 5220 runs at an average of 60.69. As a player, he has 31 Tests to his name with 2098 runs at an average of 41.13.
