Former English skipper Kevin Pietersen congratulated Team India in Hindi for their historic series victory over Australia down under, but also warned that the real team is arriving soon in India and hosts should watch out for them.
Team India-led by Ajinkya Rahane and powered by Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rishabh Pant, on Tuesday created history as they beat hosts, Australia, by 3 wickets in their fortress at Gabba and clinched a historic series win to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
The Indian team won its second consecutive Test series against Australia on their soil and leapfrogged to the number one position on the ICC World Test Championship standings.
However, moments after Team India beat Australia in the historic Test at Gabba to win the Border-Gavaskar trophy, former England skipper, Kevin Pietersen, took a dig at Team India (in the Hindi language) and congratulated them on their historic win and further apprised them that the real team will be arriving soon in India and they should not celebrate too much and be prepared.
“India - yeh aitihaasik jeet ka jashn manaye kyuki yeh sabhi baadhao ke khilaap hasil hui hai LEKIN , ASLI TEAM toh kuch hafto baad a rahi hai jisse aapko harana hoga apne ghar mein. Satark rahe ,2 saptaah mein bahut adhik jashn manaane se saavadhaan rahen,” Kevin Pietersen tweeted.
It loosely translates to, ‘India, do celebrate this historic win as it has come after crossing many hurdles. However, the real team (England) is touring in a few weeks time, whom you have to beat at your own home. Watch out, in two weeks, do not to celebrate too much and be prepared."
England, who are currently playing a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, will be arriving on a long tour of India starting from the first week of February. They are slated to play 4 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20I matches against the hosts.
