The fourth Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane was evenly poised after the second session on Day 2. That is when rain started pouring and play couldn't resume afterwards due to wet outfield.

While it wasn't raining till the time the game was supposed to be played, the wet outfield and soggy grass kept the players in their dressing rooms.

Australian head coach Justin Langer was extremely disappointed by the fact that wet grass stopped cricket from being played at such a crucial time.

Langer told Fox Cricket, "As a cricket tragic that I am, and also now watching the business of sport, it’s so disappointing for us not to be playing cricket. We’ve talked about getting cricket back on the airwaves and TV screens to make Australians happy, after what's been a tough 2020, so not to be able to play because of a bit of soggy grass, it’s one of the areas we need to look at in cricket."

"The umpires did what they had to do, but as a sport, we need to look at that, no doubt about it," he added.

Justin Langer also called for some proactive schedule changes from the umpires knowing that the weather is going to be bad for cricket to be played in the coming days.

He suggested that the umpires could shorten the time during lunch breaks and start play early knowing that rain is going to halt play later in the day.

He said, "I think it’s where cricket shoots itself in the foot. It’s great they are starting half an hour early today, but could they start even earlier, half an hour earlier, and say ‘we’re going to have a shorter lunch break’ just to get that time in, knowing there might be some rain in the next couple of days."

"I think that’s an area where cricket could definitely improve," Langer said.
