With more than half of the Indian team being injured, Madan Lal, former India fast bowler and chairman of the Cricket Advisory Committee said things will be really tough for the tourists at Australia's fortress – The Gabba, Brisbane as they are gearing up to the final Test starting January 15.

While Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari have already been ruled out of the final Test, India’s major concern is their bowling attack at the moment as they are currently sweating out over the fitness of leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has an abdominal strain and ace spinner R Ashwin, who also has reportedly suffered a back strain.

However, India hasn’t yet announced the playing XI for the Brisbane Test at The Gabba – where Australia hasn’t lost a Test since 1988, but if Ashwin and Bumrah were unable to play, it would make an even bigger hole in the Indian bowling attack for the crucial series decider Test.

Meanwhile, the Indian team management has made clear that Bumrah will lead the pace attack in the Test series decider against Australia even if he is 50 percent fit and Madan Lal said his presence would be beneficial and will give an edge to the tourists on the fastest track at the Gabba.

Lal told ANI: “Brisbane as a ground is different so I think challenges will be there for the Indian team. And I feel if Bumrah plays it will be beneficial for the Indian team.”

He further noted, “Lot of problems is there in front of the Indian side. More than half of the team is injured, top players are injured, and the absence of big players will definitely be there. As of now, it looks very tough for them to form even a playing 11.”

Lal signed off, “In the case of injuries, reserve players will get the chance. I think if Ashwin is fit and if he plays, it will be really good news. You will come to know about injuries update and team by tomorrow.”
