Australia is not really in a hurry to make a statement regarding Will Pucovski's availability for the fourth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India starting January 15 at The Gabba, Brisbane.

Pucovski hurt himself while fielding during the fifth day of the third Pink Test at Sydney Cricket Ground and is now recovering from the “shoulder subluxation injury.”

The opening batsman had already missed the first two Tests of the four-Test series against India due to concussion issues and the hosts’ don’t want to take any call in haste for the Brisbane Test.

He returned for the third Test against India at SCG- where he scored 62 and 10 in his debut Test match before being injuring his shoulder while trying to stop a shot from Hanuma Vihari on Day 5 of the Sydney Test. The 22-year-old landed heavily at the SCG on Monday after he dived for the ball.

On Tuesday (January 12), Cricket Australia in a statement confirmed that Pucovski had suffered a “shoulder subluxation injury” and he will continue his rehabilitation over the next two days before they will make any call about his availability for the Brisbane Test against India.

The CA said in a statement on Tuesday: “He will continue rest and rehabilitation over the next two days before a decision is made on his fitness for the fourth test match. No additional players have been brought into the squad for the final match.”

Noteworthy, Joe Burns and Matthew Wade opened for Australia in the first two tests before David Warner returned in the third Test with Pucovski in Sydney.
