Former Indian wicket-keeper, Deep Dasgupta, accused the SCG crowd of racial abuse at Mohammed Siraj saying anyone hurling racial slurs should be banned for life from going to any sports venue.

The Indian Cricket Team has lodged an official complaint with the ICC about racial abuse against two players- Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in the ongoing third Test match between Australia and India in Sydney

The abuse reportedly occurred during the final session of the third day of the 3rd Test match in Sydney when pacer, Mohammed Siraj was fielding at fine leg near the boundary ropes at the Randwick end of the SCG.

Condemning the racial abuse suffered by India pacer Mohammed Siraj the former Indian wicket-keeper said.

"Nothing justifies racial slur. You cannot do that. I don't care how drunk they are, under the influence of alcohol. You cannot justify that. And that has to stop.” Deep Dasgupta told Sports Today.

A few drunk supporters took racial jibes at Mohammed Siraj with taunts that were “seriously insulting.” Siraj then complained about the issue to senior players like skipper Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin who then spoke to the two on-field umpires and reported the issue to them.

Taking a dig at the SCG crowd the former wicket-keeper batsman, Deep Dasgupta, said that he doesn’t mind being abused but racial slurs are not tolerable.

"The other important thing that before every game under ICC there is a huge thing that is announced in the crowd through the system about racism, about slurs. You are not supposed to do that. I tell you what I don't mind being abused because people in the past have had.

"Anyone hurling racially abuses should be banned for life to go to any sports venue. Zero tolerance. That's it. Nothing justifies racial slurs.” he added.

The issue and the subsequent complaint will be under ICC's purview until further notice.
