Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has on Monday (January 4) slammed the Indian cricketers for breaching the bio-secure protocols set-up by Cricket Australia to combat COVID-19 during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Recently, India cricketers Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, and Rishabh Pant came under the scanner for a potential bio-bubble breach in Melbourne with the CA and BCCI started the investigation regarding the breach of the protocols on Friday (January 1).
After they were seen dining at an indoor restaurant in Melbourne, all the five players have been separated from the Indian squad and placed under isolation.
Then, the reports emerged that Indian players are not willing to travel to Brisbane to play the fourth and final Test at The Gabba due to the strict quarantine rules imposed by the Queensland government for the people coming from New South Wales.
Reacting to the same, Manjrekar has expressed his disappointment over the incident while asking the players either they should drop themselves from the squad or follow the rules set-up by the CA and Australian government without making a fuss during the Test series.
He wrote on Twitter: “It’s quite simple really. Either rule yourself out for selection or once selected respect the bio bubble & the strict protocols. Can’t have it both ways.”
Noteworthy, Australia and India are scheduled to play the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 7 followed by the final on January 15 in Brisbane.
