Mumbaikar Ajinkya Rahane stood up for the nation when it mattered the most. He took over the captaincy from Virat Kohli as he attended his wife for the birth of their first child. From the low of 36 in the first Test, Rahane led from the front and made Team India register one of the most famous wins at the MCG just a week later.

He himself scored a century in the first innings and remained out in the second innings to hit the winning runs as India beat Australia by 8 wickets.

The entire Team India fanbase was able to come out of the disappointment of Adelaide as the year 2020 comes to a close and Ajinkya Rahane prepares himself to lead the pack two more times against Australia in the next two weeks.

The humble man that he is, Rahane didn’t boast of his achievements and instead took to social media to thank the fans of the Indian team that stood by their side and gave them all the love and support that they needed to make a comeback. He also requested them to continue supporting the team from hereon.

He wrote, “I would like to express my gratitude for all the love and support we’ve received. The biggest reward for us as a team has been the ability to bring a smile on the faces of all those Indians that follow the sport. We continue to seek your support and good wishes as we work hard for the next two matches.

Ajinkya Rahane would like to continue with the same enthusiasm and energy in the next two Tests starting from January 6 and 15 in Sydney and Brisbane respectively.
