AUS v IND 2020-21: "Virat said he didn't feel anything", Lyon on missed DRS call against Kohli

AUS v IND 2020-21: "Virat said he didn't feel anything", Lyon on missed DRS call against Kohli

Australia had a huge shout against Virat Kohli when he was batting on 16.

Tim Paine didn't went for DRS review against Virat Kohli | TwitterIndian skipper Virat Kohli survived a close call against Australia on the first day of the day-night Test at Adelaide. Australia captain Tim Paine decided not to go for a DRS after a shout for a catch.

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon, who was bowling that over, said the team wasn't a hundred percent sure if the ball has touched Kohli's gloves or not. Kohli tried to glance at the ball which pitched on the middle stump and spun to the leg. The close-in fielders appealed as soon as Paine collected the ball.

The umpire turned down the appeal, but the hot spot showed there was a mark on Kohli's gloves. "From my angle, I was totally out of sight. For me, It wasn't my best ball and I couldn't hear any noise, it was quite windy out there," Lyon said.

"Paine was stoked, it was a pretty good catch. But we didn't really feel or hear anything. Wadey (Wade) said there was a sound and he looked to be in the right area but at the end of the day, we weren't 100 percent sure on that.

"Having talked to Virat in the middle, he said he didn't feel anything on his glove either. I had a look at his glove, there was no pink mark. It is what it is. Some days you get them, some days you don't."

Kohli was batting on 16 in the 36th over when Australia missed the DRS and he went on to score 74 before an unfortunate run-out. Lyon called Virat's dismissal a huge one.

"It was massive, obviously a wicket like that or a run-out, especially Virat Kohli, it was massive," Lyon said.

India ended up scoring only 244 runs in the first innings. After Kohli's wicket on 188, India scored only 56 runs and lost 6 wickets.
