Indian skipper Virat Kohli will travel back home after the first Test in Adelaide for the birth of his first child and the captaincy will be taken over by Ajinkya Rahane. The Mumbaikar has led the Test side twice before and has ended up winning on both occasions.
Former Indian cricketer and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has worked closely with Rahane in Mumbai and knows the cricketer better than a lot others. He believes that Rahane has a smart brain and can do well as captain Down Under.
Tendulkar told Sports Today, "This is going to be slightly different. Having interacted with Ajinkya Rahane, I know he has a very smart brain and he is balanced. He is aggressive but it's controlled aggression."
"Whatever time I have spent with him, I know he is a hard-working player, he takes nothing for granted, and if you're working hard, if you're sincere and honest in your preparation, the result will invariably follow," he added.
The 47-year-old cricketer has been on a few tours Down Under himself and knows how important this tour is for Indian cricketers. He also had a small piece of advice for the players to follow the process and the desired result will eventually follow.
"I am sure the team would prepare to the best of their ability. Don't be focussed on the result. Focus on the process and the results will follow," Tendulkar said.
