The third and final leg of India's tour Down Under will commence on Thursday, December 17 with the first Test in Adelaide. The game will not only be the first Test for Team India after COVID-19 but also their first Day/Night Test outside of India.
While the team management has a lot to think about regarding the team combination for the Pink Ball Test, wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha have given them a good headache. The duo has struck form and has shown readiness to step onto the field against Australia.
Wriddhiman Saha scored an unbeaten half-century in the second innings of the first practice game while Rishabh Pant registered a quickfire hundred in the second game. He scored 103 runs in just 73 balls including 9 boundaries and 6 sixes.
Batting all-rounder Hanuma Vihari was in the middle with Pant when the duo scored unbeaten centuries in the second practice game.
Vihari said in the virtual post-match press conference, "Healthy competition is always good for the team and I feel, for every spot, we have good competition. It all depends on team management as to whom they decide to pick. I feel both of them are looking in good form so it will be a tough call and a good headache."
Pant averages 58.33 in Test cricket in Australia and enjoys the highest score of 159*. He scored 350 runs in 4 matches and has excellent stats to put his case forward. On the other hand, Saha has not had the best of times Down Under. He has scored just 111 runs in 3 matches at an average of 18.50.
