India defeated Australia 2-1 in the recently concluded T20I series with wins in Canberra and Sydney, before losing the third and final match in SCG on December 8. This win also helped the Indian team batsmen in the latest ICC T20I rankings as well.
Wicket-batsman KL Rahul and India captain Virat Kohli have climbed a spot each to grab the 3rd and the 8th position, respectively. Virat Kohli’s sublime form during the T20I series which India won 2-1, saw him scoring 134 runs at an average of 44.66.
This included a well-made 85 in the 3rd T20I match. Also, KL Rahul scored 81 runs in the three matches to jump a spot to third with 816 points.
Rohit Sharma lost points due to being injured but continues to be India's third-highest ranked T20I batsman. The swashbuckling right-hander is now occupying the 14th spot. Southpaw Shikhar Dhawan has made gains and reached the 19th spot in the rankings.
England’s Dawid Malan and Pakistan’s Babar Azam occupy the no.1 and no.2 positions respectively.
In the latest T20I rankings for bowlers, 21-year-old off-spinner Washington Sundar is the highest-ranked Indian bowler at the 11th spot. Sundar featured in all the 3 matches for India and succeeded in scalping 2 wickets but his economy of 7.08 despite bowling in the Powerplay overs, impressed one and all.
Jasprit Bumrah was rested in all 3 T20I matches. This has affected his ranking as he has slipped to 17th position on the chart.
Australia spinner Adam Zampa jumped two places to feature in the top five, whereas, Chris Jordan of England occupies the 10th spot now. Afghanistan spin duo of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman occupy the first and the second spot respectively.
