The incident took place on the third delivery of the 13th over when Pucovski’s uncertainty around pulling and leaving a short delivery saw him getting hit on the helmet.

The right-hander immediately fell to his knees and looked in discomfort. Pucovski was then attended by team doctor and other medical staff before he was able to walk off the ground without the need of any external support.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time Pucovski has walked off the field after getting hit by a short delivery.

After regular opener David Warner’s hamstring injury, Will Pucovski was being deemed as Joe Burns’ opening partner for the first Test against India. It would be interesting to see if the 22-year-old recovers on time for a potential Test debut in Adelaide.

The battle for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kick-start with the pink-ball affair at the Adelaide Oval on December 17. Melbourne will host the second Test from December 26 while the third and fourth Tests will be played in Sydney Cricket Ground (January 7-11) and Brisbane's Gabba (January 15-19), respectively.
