Indian cricket team’s latest bowling sensation T Natarajan’s quick rise at the international has impressed one and all and now the Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath.
Natarajan, Tamil Nadu's left-arm seamer, was initially named as a net bowler for the Australia tour, and then an injury to Varun Chakravarthy has awarded him the maiden call-up to India’s T20I squad given his terrific performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2020.
However, the 29-year-old was later selected in the ODI squad as well. Natarajan finally got his opportunity in the third and final ODI and the seamer grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scalping 2 wickets for 70 runs in 10 overs to help India win the final ODI by 13 runs in Canberra.
His superb ODI debut in Australia earned him a T20I chance too and the bowler has been impressing one and all with each passing opportunity on his debut tour against Australia. At the moment, Natarajan is the leading wicket-taker for India so far in the three-match T20I series with 5 wickets.
Praising the bowler for his performance so far, McGrath said he was “very impressed” with Natarajan while terming him the “find” for India in the ongoing tour of Australia 2020-21.
McGrath said during commentary in the 2nd T20I at the SCG: “Was very impressed with Natarajan. He’s definitely the find of this tour for India, hopefully, he continues.”
The Aussie legend also narrated how Natarajan has improved a lot from the time when he first met him at the MRF pace foundation a few years ago.
McGrath also said the seamer has adapted quickly to the Australian conditions and now he doesn’t have to rely on his yorkers alone to pick wickets.
