AUS v IND 2020-21: WATCH- R Ashwin bowls with his cap on during the practice match against Australia A

Ashwin picked two wickets for Indians as Australia A ended day 2 on 286/8.

R Ashwin bowling with his cap on during the practice match in Sydney | TwitterIndian off-spinner R Ashwin is known for being a bit quirky and different. He has been in news for the last year or so due to his mankading incident in IPL 2019 and him letting Aaron Finch off in a match during IPL 2020.

Ashwin has been known for his variations in bowling, has been often seen bowling leg-spin, and possesses one of the best carrom balls in world cricket. The Tamil Nadu lad has 365 wickets in 71 Tests and 150 wickets in 111 ODIs, to go with 52 wickets in 46 T20I matches for India.

He is widely rated as one of the best off-spinners in the world currently, alongside Australia’s Nathan Lyon.

However, Ashwin has always surprised his fans and cricketing experts with his ability to bring something new to the table with the ball or in his mannerisms. Something similar was seen during the ongoing practice game between Indians and Australia at the Drummoyne Oval, Sydney.

R Ashwin was seen bowling with his India cap on, picking two wickets, including one with Ajinkya Rahane catching Marcus Harris’s fierce cut in slips with good reflexes.

Bowlers usually don’t bowl with their hats or caps on, but Ashwin doing so gave the ICC and former Australia spinner Lisa Sthalekar something to chuckle about as they shared Ashwin’s latest antics on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Australia A ended day two on 286/8 with Cameron Green making 114*. Ashwin picked 2/58 in 19 overs, while Umesh Yadav picked 3/44 and Mohammed Siraj took 2/71. India had batted first and made 247/9d with captain Rahane making 117* and Cheteshwar Pujara making 54.
