Indian captain Virat Kohli has not had a good time in the field during the ongoing Australia tour, as he has constantly dropping catching, especially when he is trying to catch them with fingers pointing up.
Something similar was seen in the second T20I between India and Australia at the SCG, which India won by 6 wickets to go 2-0 up in the three-match series.
Australia’s stand-in captain Matthew Wade hit one in the air off Washington Sundar, after scoring a brilliant fifty. Virat Kohli at covers had a simple catch, but he dropped it.
However, Wade and Short were in the middle of the pitch trying to cross, but when the catch was dropped, Wade tried to go back into the crease at the batting end. However, Kohli showed a presence of mind and picked the ball, throwing to keeper Rahul, who removed the bails to run Wade out.
This incident reminded England fast bowler Stuart Broad of his own folly a few months back, during the home Test series against Pakistan. He tagged fellow pacer James Anderson and tweeted, “Remind you of anything?”
The incident that Broad was reminding Anderson happened during the 3rd Test between England and Pakistan, where he dropped Azhar Ali when Anderson was one wicket short of a fifer and three short of completing 600 wickets in Tests.
Just like Kohli, Broad had dropped the catch but recovered quickly to knock the stumps down and run out non-striker Mohammad Abbas.

Meanwhile, Australia posted 194/5 in 20 overs on the back of Wade’s 58. However, it proved to be insufficient, as Hardik Pandya’s 42* in 22 balls, Dhawan’s 52, and Kohli’s 40-odd helped India reach the target in the last over. Pandya hit Sams for two sixes to hand India the win and a 2-0 lead in the series.
