Indian captain Virat Kohli may not have set the limited-overs series on fire, but he has played important knocks for India throughout the ODIs and T20Is on this ongoing Australian tour. The second T20I between the two sides saw something similar from the Indian captain.
While chasing a tough target of 195, Shikhar Dhawan with 52 and KL Rahul with 30 set up a good platform for the rest of the Indian batting lineup. Virat Kohli anchored the middle overs with 40 runs in 24 balls with 2 sixes and as many fours to his name.
He fell to debutant Daniel Sams, giving him his maiden T20I wicket on debut, in trying to up the ante as the asking rate increased. During his knock, Kohli pulled an astonishing shot off Andrew Tye, as he went on one knee and scooped him for a six over square leg.
During the post-match interview, Kohli himself compared it with AB de Villiers’ shots and said that he will text and ask him what he thought of the shot as well.
“It (scoop over fine leg) was a bit of funny moment, surprised myself there, I will send AB a text tonight and see what he thinks of it,” Kohli said.
Hardik Pandya (42*) blasted Sams in the last over for two sixes and one four to ensure India won the match by 6 wickets and pocketed the series 2-0 with one match to go.
