Of course, COVID-19 pandemic played a big role in Kohli having this unwanted record as India featured in only 9 ODIs this year and the skipper recorded 5 half-centuries in it.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli achieved another milestone on Wednesday as he became the fastest batsman to aggregate 12,000 ODI runs.

Kohli reached the milestone in his 251st game, breaking the record of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who had done it in 309 matches.

In the second ODI of the ongoing series against Australia, Virat also became the fastest batsman to amass 22,000 international runs.

Virat Kohli looked in decent touch in the three ODIs against Australia, scoring 21, 89 and 63.

Overall, he has 12,040 runs to his name from 251 ODIs at an average of close to 60 with 43 centuries and 60 fifties.
