AUS v IND 2020-21: Candice Warner jokingly suggests sex could be behind David Warner's groin injury

Warner has been ruled out of the remaining four white-ball matches and is set to miss the 1st Test as well against India.

Australian opener David Warner's wife Candice Warner has jokingly suggested that a marathon sex session might have played a role behind her husband's painful groin strain during the second ODI against India in Sydney on Sunday (November 29).

David Warner, who scored half-centuries in the first two games, hobbled off the ground in a lot of pain, and later it was confirmed that he would miss the remaining ODI and the three T20Is to follow against India. He is also in danger of missing the day-night Test against the visitors, starting in Adelaide on December 17.

Speaking on Triple M’s Moonman in the Morning, Candice gave an update on her husband’s condition.

“He’s got a groin strain and now it’s just a lot of recovery a lot of monitoring and hopefully... it’s 17 days before the first test against India so hopefully he’ll be ready to go,” she said.

“But it is serious and he is in a lot of pain so it’s a race against the clock pretty much,” she added.

Candice and David had not been with each other in the last four months due to their respective work schedules, and the cricketer's wife joked that perhaps the couple's bedroom behaviour might have played a role in the injury.

“It’s quite funny because we only reunited after four months apart a couple of days prior,” she said.

“Everyone was like ‘what have you done to him’ and I was like ‘it wasn’t me, it wasn’t me...Sorry, Australia!”

On a more serious note, Candice hoped her husband would recover soon from the injury and that he would do everything possible to be back in action at the earliest.

“It is a serious strain but I know the type of athlete David is and he’ll be doing absolutely everything he can to get ready for that first test.” she signed off.
