Gill will look to make it into the playing XI first, as he has been chosen for the ODIs and Tests | InstagramIndia and Punjab batsman Shubman Gill has been chosen in the ODI and Test team for the tour of Australia, which includes 6 white-ball international matches and 4 Test matches as well.

It will be the first time down under for the 22-year old and in an interview with his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, he talked about his excitement level of playing in Australia and whether has some personal goals or targets during the series.

"I am really looking forward to Australia because this is my first trip. As a kid growing up, I always watched the matches between India and Australia. I am really excited," said Gill in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

"I mean the fact that a lot of my friends are traveling with the team will be exciting. I have not really set any personal goals, but I am really looking forward to the tour," he added.

Gill is coming off a good Indian Premier League (IPL) season with KKR. The right-handed batsman scored 440 runs in 14 matches in the recently concluded season in the UAE.

AUS v IND 2020-21: Rahane shouldn't try to emulate Kohli's ways as captain in Australia, says Buchanan

India and Australia will first play against each other in ODIs and T20Is and then both sides will shift their attention to the much-anticipated Test series. India defeated Australia 2-1 last time in the Test matches, their maiden series win in Australia.

But with both David Warner and Steve Smith back in the Kangaroos’ side, Australia will be aiming for revenge, especially when India will be without Virat Kohli for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tests of the series.

The first Test between India and Australia will commence from December 17 at the Adelaide Oval and this match will be a day-night contest, which Virat Kohli will play, before coming back to India for the birth of his first child.
