AUS v IND 2020-21: Manoj Tiwary disappointed with non-selection of Akshar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav

The two players have shown fine form in the ongoing IPL but didn't get selected for Aussie trip.

Suryakumar Yadav | Instagram/Mumbai Indians India and Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary expressed his displeasure at the non-selection of spin bowling all-rounder Akshar Patel and middle-order batsman Surakumar Yadav in any of the white-ball squads for the upcoming tour to Australia.

Both Akshar and Suryakumar have shown fine form in the ongoing edition of the IPL in UAE.

Akshar, the left-arm spinner, taking eight wickets in ten innings while going at only 5.78 runs per over and also scoring useful runs down the order.

Suryakumar, on the other hand, is batting perhaps the best he has done in his career so far. The right-hander has made 283 runs in 11 innings at an average of 31.44 and strike-rate of 148.94, including two fifties.

While Akshar last played for India in 2018, Suryakumar is yet to make his national debut. In both cases, it seems lack of vacancy in the ODI and T20I side, went against the performing duo.

"Hard luck @akshar2026 and @surya_14kumar on not making it to the indian team dis time. Some years down d line, few cosy group of people will say that u both were born/played at d wrong Era but i would say u cud have easily played along side ur competitors," tweeted Tiwary, 34, who has played 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is for the country.

India will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is in Sydney and Canberra on their Aussie trip.
