MI is the second IPL franchise after CSK to have a themed aircraft liveries.
Malaysia Airlines showcased its MI-themed aircraft, which arrived in the city. The plane is an Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a specially designed livery. The only other franchise with unique themed aircraft liveries, thanks to airline collaborations, is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), aside from MI.
The design incorporates the diverse aspects of both businesses, including a dynamic pulse emanating from the MI emblem and its iconic chakra, which represents movement and momentum.
Flowing patterns over the airplane represent the team's developing global fan base, emphasizing Malaysia Airlines' status as a global airline. The airplane is painted blue with the franchise's logo on the body.
Additionally, Malaysia Airlines and MI released a social media post showcasing the unique aircraft's design and construction. The franchise itself created the design, according to the post.
"You’ve seen it in the skies. You may have even spotted it somewhere along our network. But today, this livery is making a journey that feels a little more special. ???? For the first time, the Malaysia Airlines x Mumbai Indians livery is flying to Mumbai, the home of the Mumbai Indians...." the Instagram post was captioned.
Mumbai Indians have not had very good outings in the last three IPL seasons, with only one playoff appearance. After having won their last IPL title in 2020, MI had a forgettable IPL 2026 season, finishing ninth on the points table. They managed to win just four out of their 14 games, with ten defeats and eight points in the season.
They will seek a fresh start in the 2027 season as they look to recover, as Hardik is probably going to leave the squad, and the franchise must find a new leader.
