Team India registered a resounding 88-run victory over West Indies in the fifth and final T20I in Florida on Sunday (August 7).

Opting to bat first, the visitors rode on Shreyas Iyer’s 40-ball 64 and Deepak Hooda’s 25-ball 38 to post 188/7 in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya, who was leading India in this game, also played a valuable cameo of 16-ball 28.

Odean Smith starred with the ball for the hosts, claiming three wickets by conceding 33 runs in his four overs. Dominic Drakes (1-24), Hayden Walsh (1-33), and Jason Holder (1-38) also picked one scalp each.

In reply, West Indies’ innings folded for a paltry 100 in 15.4 overs. It was a listless performance from the home team as most of them fell for a single-digit score. Shimron Hetmyer was the lone fighter with the bat, scoring 56 off 35 balls while the next best score was Shamarh Brooks’ 13.

India’s spin troika of Akshar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, and Kuldeep Yadav turned out to be the nemesis for the West Indies. While Bishnoi (4-16) took four wickets in his 2.4 overs, Kuldeep (3-12) and Akshar (3-15) returned with three scalps each.

With this victory, the Men in Blue clinched the five-T20I series 4-1 and signed off the white-ball tour on a high.
