While fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya played an important role in India’s T20I and ODI series win in England last week, wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also made a vital contribution. In 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is, the leggie took 7 and 4 wickets respectively.

The Men in Blue will tour West Indies for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is, starting on Friday (July 22). It came as a surprise to many that Chahal is a part of the 50-over line-up but not in the T20I one.

Aakash Chopra has criticized the logic of not making Chahal participate in every game given the brilliant form he has been in.

"Personally, I didn't like that he is being rested, he will play the ODIs in the West Indies tour but not the T20s. In my opinion, he should be allowed to play. He is not someone whose workload management you should talk about for the simple reason that he is a spinner, he will be alright," said Chopra on his Youtube channel.

“His performances force you to think why he is not regularly in the team. The way he has bowled, I am slightly surprised you are not playing him all the matches. Why do you keep him out of the team in between? He played two matches in T20s, four wickets with an economy of 7.0. Two wickets in both innings, well done Yuzi.”

The cricketer-turned-commentator added that the seasoned spinner can be used more effectively by the team management.

"If we talk about ODI cricket, seven wickets in three innings with an economy of 5.35 and a best of 4/47. He didn't get much chance to bowl in the first match. He is also telling us time and again that he is a special player and that you can use him better." he stated.

India tied the Test series with England 2-2 while defeating them 2-1 in the ODI and T20I series.
