Rohit Sharma had scored just 3 runs in 19 balls in 1st innings against J&K.
India Test and ODI captain and Mumbai batter Rohit Sharma showed glimpses of returning to form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against J&K in BKC, Mumbai.
The 37-year-old batter, who scored three runs on 19 balls in the first inning, added 28 runs on 35 balls in the second. Rohit smashed two fours and three sixes during his spell at the crease on Friday (January 24), and he and Yashasvi Jaiswal combined 54 runs for the first wicket.
His sixes were some of the best and eye-pleasing shots, especially the one he hit straight down the ground as if he had just lofted the ball over the long-off fence.
Another six from Rohit Sharma came from his trademark pull shot, as the opener latched onto the short ball quickly and deposited it on the leg side.
However, Rohit Sharma’s stay at the crease was cut short when he tried to play another lofted shot. The ball held onto the pitch, and he was early into his shot. The ball took the inside edge of his bat and went towards the mid-wicket region.
Jaiswal also struggled with the bat in the second innings after scoring four in the first, eventually being dismissed after 26 runs off 51 balls. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter was caught in the gully by Yawer Hassan off Yudhvir's delivery.
