Dube was asked to pick between Rohit and Dhoni on the Kapil Sharma show on Netflix.
Shivam Dube has played the past 2-3 years in the Indian Premier League under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, and thanks to his help, the all-rounder made his comeback in the Indian team this January.
On the other hand, Dube has played for India under Rohit Sharma and helped India lift the T20 World Cup 2024 as well, with a few power-packed batting performances.
During their conversation on the Kapil Sharma show, host Kapil asked Shivam Dube which captain he loved the most between Dhoni and Rohit, and the stage instantly filled with laughter.
Rohit Sharma quickly quipped "Fans gaya ye!" (He's trapped!), as the question put Shivam in a tough position. Suryakumar chimed in, calling it a "very difficult question."
Shivam Dube then showed great presence of mind and credited his father for bringing him into cricket when he was asked how he chose the game as his profession. And then answered the question of who is best by saying he loves the captain he plays under at that time.
He said: “I feel that whoever I'm playing with, whether it's Chennai or the Indian team, he's the best for me at that time. When I am playing for Chennai, MS Dhoni is the best; when I am playing for India, Rohit Sharma is the best.”
Rohit Sharma, clearly amused by Shivam’s diplomatic answer, quipped, "I think he had thought of the answer a few days back."
Suryakumar Yadav congratulated Shivam on his tactical answer, while Rohit Sharma was mightly impressed with the answer.
