Hardik Pandya received a warm reception in his hometown of Vadodara as he returned after helping India win the T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik was the India vice-captain and bowled the all-important final over in the summit clash against South Africa in Barbados on June 29.

Hardik Pandya defended 16 runs in the final over, taking the wicket of David Miller on the first ball of the over and ensuring India’s ICC trophy drought ended after 11 years of wait.

In the T20 World Cup, Pandya excelled with both bat and ball, scoring 144 runs in six innings at an average of 48.00 and a strike rate of 151.57, including a half-century. The allrounder also claimed 11 wickets in eight matches at an average of 17.36 and an economy rate of 7.64, with best figures of 3/20.

During the roadshow in his hometown, Hardik, warmly welcomed by the crowd, spotted a tennis ball flying towards him and instinctively grabbed it, which brought a broad smile to his face.
Hardik's brother, Krunal, also joined him at the roadshow.

This moment reminded fans of the moment when the Indian team was taking a lap of the Wankhede stadium and singing Vande Mataram with the crowd. Hardik Pandya was walking with his arms spread wide when a t-shirt thrown by a fan landed in his hand.
