From jeering and hooting Hardik Pandya during the IPL 2024, the Wankhede stadium crowd chanted the all-rounder’s name ahead of Team India’s felicitation ceremony at the venue on July 4, 2024.

The gates No. 2, 3, and 4 were opened for the fans sharp at 4:00 PM on July 4, Thursday. The BCCI and the Maharashtra Cricket Association also announced that entry at Wankhede Stadium will be free.

The T20 World Cup 2024 champions Indian team arrived in Delhi in the early morning today and first met PM Narendra Modi at his residence. PM Modi hosted the team and listened to some anecdotes from the players and coach Rahul Dravid.

After spending around an hour at the PM house in Delhi, the Indian team moved to the airport where they boarded a special flight to Mumbai where the Men in Blue are slated for a special open bus parade towards the Wankhede Stadium.

Here the players and coaches will be felicitated by the BCCI and captain Rohit Sharma will hand over the T20 World Cup trophy to secretary Jay Shah, as the title will remain in BCCI headquarters for the next two years.

Meanwhile, the crowd filled the Wankhede stadium to the brim and shouted Hardik Pandya’s name which was a sort of redemption for the all-rounder. Hardik had taken over as MI captain from Rohit Sharma for IPL 2024 and faced hatred and boos at home as well.

But the crowd chanted “Hardik, Hardik” while waiting for the Indian team to arrive at the venue.
