New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips on Saturday (March 9) gave another glimpse of why he is regarded as one of the best fielders in the world.

During the second day of the Christchurch Test against Australia, Phillips pulled off a blinder to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne.

In reply to New Zealand’s first innings total of 162, the visitors were 189/7 at one stage but Labuschagne held the one end firmly and threatened to take the game away from the Kiwis. At this point, Phillips produced an incredible fielding effort to dismiss the Aussie batter for 90.

As Labuschagne tried to cut a delivery from New Zealand skipper Tim Southee, Glenn Phillips, who was stationed at wide gully, dived to his right with remarkable agility to pluck a one-handed screamer.

The hosts were 134/2 at the close of play on Day 2, securing a lead of 40 runs in the second innings. While Kane Williamson got out after scoring 51, Tom Latham remained unbeaten on 65 at stumps.
