Tariq was picked as partial replacement for Hasaranga by Gladiators.
In a match where Karachi Kings scored 165/8, Tariq returned figures of 2/16 in his four overs. His first wicket was that of Tim Seifert, who was out LBW as he misread a straight delivery.
Five balls later, Tariq claimed the wicket of James Vince as he beat the English batter’s outside edge with a ball that turned away from the right-hander before pinning him in front of the stumps with a more traditional off-break.
It wasn't simply Tariq's ability to turn the ball both ways that created issues. The PSL rookie has an incredibly unorthodox approach to the crease, in which he almost entirely stops in his gather.
This reminded people of Indian off-spinner R Ashwin, who tends to stop in his bowling action for a second before delivering the ball.

Former Pakistan captain Misbah Ul Haq decoded Tariq’s bowling on the ASports show The Pavilion.
He said: “He (Taqir) has a carrom ball and on top of that, he is accurate. The spin is so subtle that it is just enough to beat the bat. For the right-handers, he is difficult to face. If you play him like an off-spinner where the ball comes back which we have tried and seen but all the batters make the same mistake when we think he is delivering the carrom ball. We try to play him in-line we plant our foot to play but him that subtle turn will get to you LBW or bowled.”
“When you are facing your first or second ball as a batter in your innings even if you pick it you will make a mistake some way or the other. In PSL some international players have played a lot of world-class spinners which will be a challenge to him also they would do a video analysis on him,” Misbah added.
Tariq will make his professional debut in late 2023, playing once for Peshawar in the National T20 Cup. Tariq was only signed by Quetta shortly before the tournament as a partial replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who will join the side partway through the tournament.
