The cricket matches between arch-rivals India and Pakistan have always been intense and enthralling to watch. Players from both sides wear their hearts on their sleeves, emotions always run high and the massive crowd makes the games even more special.

The high-voltage encounters have also witnessed many on-field clashes over the years and the one between Venkatesh Prasad and Aamir Sohail still remains vivid in fans’ memories.

It all happened during the 1996 World Cup quarter-final when Sohail hammered Prasad for four to the square boundary and brashly signalled the bowler with the bat as if to say, "see that, I will hit you there again".

Sohail’s gesture didn’t go down well with Prasad as the Indian pacer uprooted Pakistani opener’s off-stump off in the next delivery and gave him an animated send-off.

On Sunday (December 31), Venkatesh Prasad conducted a Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter), where a fan asked him to react on Aamir Sohail’s famous dismissal and the former pacer came up with a rather witty response.

"Indira Nagar ka goonda moment," Prasad wrote, referring to a phrase that India head coach Rahul Dravid used in a commercial.

Meanwhile, Venkatesh Prasad also extended his best wishes to Team India on New Year 2024, hoping to see them lift trophies this year.

"It's been a year of 'What could have been' for Team India. Dominated the World Cup only to have a very bad day when it mattered in the finals. Lost the WTC finals as well. Travis Head was brilliant in both these games. Hope in the coming year, India starts winning Championships which has alluded them for more than a decade now. Wishing the best for Team India in the coming year and always," Prasad tweeted.
